ELINA
Can customised processes or functions be developed?
Yes. If a partner has specific requirements or special processes, these can usually be implemented at short notice. New features are generally developed at no extra cost and are subsequently made available to other suitable partners as well.
How quickly can a specialist system be integrated?
Specialist systems are connected via standardised interfaces. In many cases, integration can be implemented within a few days.
Is your platform actually integrated into specialist procedures?
Yes. Our platform operates its own interface servers, which can automatically connect to specialist systems via the communication channels mandated at national level. The systems support standardised administrative networks and communication standards, as well as openly documented RESTful APIs.
Does the MIDAS platform store personal data?
No. The MIDAS platform does not store any personal data. The systems are used under a licence agreement, whereby the respective partner utilises the platform as technical infrastructure. The processing of data takes place entirely under the control and responsibility of the respective contractual partner.
How long does it take to implement a system?
In many cases, a system can be up and running within a few days. Integration with existing business processes or IT systems is achieved via standardised interfaces and, depending on the specific process, can also be implemented at short notice.
Who operates and maintains the systems?
The platform is managed centrally and updated on an ongoing basis. Maintenance, updates and technical enhancements are carried out regularly to ensure that the systems can be operated securely and reliably at all times.
Do organisations need to purchase their own hardware?
No. The necessary infrastructure can be provided as part of the collaboration, enabling organisations to use the platform without having to procure or operate complex technical systems themselves.
How much does MIDAS ELINA cost?
ELINA is generally made available to our partners as a platform. There are usually no upfront costs for the technology itself. The system is continuously maintained, updated and supported. Costs are based on the actual volume of transactions for the services used. We would be happy to provide you with a bespoke quote.
Can ELINA support multiple languages?
Yes. The user interface supports up to 48 languages and is therefore also suitable for international environments.
Where can ELINA systems be used?
ELINA can be installed in a variety of locations, such as government offices, banks, public institutions, businesses or service centres.
Do existing administrative processes need to be changed?
No. The platform is designed to complement existing structures. Organisations can use ELINA as an additional digital access channel without having to make fundamental changes to their existing processes.
Can ELINA be integrated into existing IT systems?
Yes. The platform is designed to be integrated into existing specialist systems. Integration is achieved via standardised interfaces as well as OSCI- and XÖV-based communication structures.
Which technical standards are supported?
Our systems support, amongst other things, eIDAS standards, OSCI communication, XÖV standards and the technical guidelines of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
Does the system comply with European data protection requirements?
The systems have been designed to comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data protection and data security are central components of the system architecture.
What security features do the issued documents have?
Documents are printed on security paper and feature several security features, such as watermarks, microprinting, UV security features, security strips and invisible serial numbers.
Can multiple identities be detected?
Yes. The system can compare biometric features in real time, thereby identifying duplicate or multiple identities. This is done in compliance with data protection regulations and without accessing external databases.
How secure is the identification process?
ELINA combines several layers of security, such as biometric identification, document verification, liveness detection and audit-proof documentation. This combination enables particularly reliable identity verification.
What is liveness detection?
Liveness detection ensures that a real person is in front of the system. It prevents attempts to deceive the system using photos, videos or masks. This involves analysing several physiological characteristics.
Can ELINA detect fake ID cards?
Yes. The document verification system analyses identity documents under various types of lighting, such as white light, UV light and infrared light. This enables even the slightest alterations to the document to be detected.
What biometric methods are used?
ELINA supports various biometric methods, including facial recognition, iris recognition, fingerprint analysis, hand vein patterns and palm patterns. The combination of these methods enables a particularly secure identity verification process.
How does identification with ELINA work?
First, the identity document is scanned and checked for authenticity. This is followed by a biometric analysis, during which the person’s face is compared with the photograph on the document. In addition, a multi-stage liveness detection process verifies that a real person is actually present in front of the system.
What services can be offered via ELINA?
ELINA can be used to provide a wide range of digital services, such as public services, identification processes, contract conclusion, document certification and registrations. The systems can be fully integrated into existing business processes.
Can ELINA be used without logging in?
Yes. ELINA can, of course, also be used without an identification process. All of the platform’s functions can be used independently of any identification. The architecture is modular, meaning that individual components and functions can be controlled with a high degree of granularity. The operator can specify individually for each service which functions should be activated.
Can MIDAS ELINA also be used outside government departments or banks?
Yes. MIDAS ELINA can essentially be used wherever digital processes need to be automated, simplified or securely documented. In addition to applications in public sector organisations or regulated industries, the system is also suitable for numerous other areas of use. Examples include ticketing and event management with optional ticket personalisation, digital onboarding processes, automated registration systems, or secure documentation processes with forgery-proof document printing. Depending on the application, identification, liveness detection or background checks can be integrated, or the system can serve as a platform for digital self-service processes.
Which organisations is ELINA suitable for?
Our systems are designed specifically for government agencies and public authorities, banks and financial service providers, businesses with identity verification obligations, and organisations with heightened security requirements. ELINA can be used wherever secure identity verification is required.
What is MIDAS ELINA?
ELINA is an automated self-service system for the secure identification of individuals using official photo ID. The system enables fully digitalised identity and administrative processes and can be used in government agencies, banks, businesses and public institutions. ELINA combines document verification, biometric identification, liveness detection and audit-proof process documentation within a single integrated system.
