MIDAS was founded in 2019 as a spin-off from several research initiatives and private development projects in the field of digital identity and secure identification procedures. The initial technological work began as early as 2014 and focused on the development of automated identification processes for digital services.

The research focused on secure identification using official photo ID in self-service environments, the integration of biometric methods, and the development of robust security architectures for trustworthy digital systems.

In the course of this work, several technical solutions were developed, which have been gradually patented since 2018 and now form the basis of the MIDAS technology platform. This architecture enables automated identification processes for organisations with stringent regulatory and security requirements.
